Help me choose it’s replacement.
I will get a car based on whatever the sell price of the crossfire is. I’m expecting about 7-8 thousand in a private sale.
So, the requirements are pretty vague because I really enjoy all different types of cars, but in this case it must have at least four seats, can’t be a truck or SUV because I already have one, and it has to be relatively fun to drive.
I’ve been eyeing e30's and generally all older BMW’s because I really miss mine.
This car will be my DD, so it has to be at least minorly reliable or easy to fix. Preferably no cars with electrical complexity, (newer mercedes, jag) as that’s why the crossfire is getting kicked.
So, what say you, OPPO?

The answer is always GT-FOUR.

What would I do with the rest $6000?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:21 |

How simple are these? I really don’t like the idea of a transverse all wheel drive system.

Turn it into a track car with a turbo.

So what broke on the Crossfire this time?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:25 |

I don’t actually know. But, considering it’s a Toyota, it should at least be somewhat reliable if that’s any consolation?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:28 |

Cooper S?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:28 |

Rear seats actually fit peaple, also dirt cheap.

Group A rally car tech probably means they’re just as arse-y as an Integrale or RS Cosworth when they break.

I’ve been seeing these. I understand it’s the supra chassis? Buy one for 3-4 and nice upgrades...

That’s almost like rick-Rolling.
“Oh what’s for sale” PT cruiser...
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:33 |

Oppo may not like this but IMHO the SC only beats the Crossfire in noise(V8) and reliability.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:37 |

A convertible PT Cruiser too, imagine all the retired snowbird tail you’ll pull in that thing dude, you’ll be beating grandmas off with a baseball bat.
Wait a minute that didn’t sound right

General electrical bugginess. My dad’s been driving it while I’ve had the truck in Daytona, and he’s just sick of dumb shit happening. (Part of that might be him) intermittent lights, radio. Went through two alternators and two batteries in 6 months.

Three more Echo’s.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:43 |

Possible. I’ve heard that they’re ticking time bombs.

Oh. Ew.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:45 |

My roomate for some reason just is a magnet for grandmas down here. It’s just weird.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:48 |

And utility? The crossfire has a bigger trunk, but less seats.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:51 |
|
If I didn’t have to drive it all the time, you’d be on to something.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:57 |

How many doors do you prefer?
How much hp? does mpg matter?
Manual, auto or dont care?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 15:58 |
|
The crossfire has aftermarket support?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:01 |
|
4seats for adults. Doors don’t matter.
Hp, mpg, year irrelevant, but if it’s glacially slow it better get good MPG.
If it’s auto, better be a cruiser or a big convertible. Or Deisel.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:04 |

Dude ikr, old ladies are fucking shameless, we were in Siesta Key for Spring Break and they would not stop hitting on us either. It was weird.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:07 |

Next to zero. The SC has got that going.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:08 |

The newer ones with the N14 engines aren’t bad. It’s the N12 engines that are ticking time bombs with their timing chain tensioners if I remember correctly.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:08 |

... If you get an SRT. I was talking stock for stock though, most people don’t mod their cars.

Hmmm... I want to like the minis...
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:12 |

Yea so I have to drive my friends around less! The only thing I cant do now that I used to do was move around 40+” TVs. I also don’t do video game nights like I used to either so it hasn’t been a problem.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:14 |

MkIV Supra N/A? I don’t know what they go for in Daytona Beach.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:15 |
|
Can you find a G8 with a V8 in your area? That would be great.
If not you could look up CTS or an MKZ/MKS. the Lincolns aren’t quite as “fun” but they’re reliable. CTS would be easier to work on because of the RWD and the engine being in the right direction.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:17 |

Ehh that sucks. I’ve gone through my fair share of issues, you know 160k miles and all. But its all been easily diagnose-able.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:19 |

I moved a 42' TV using the crossfire. We fit it up and over the divider

Impala.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:23 |

I looked, found a couple of nice turbo’s for that price range. Good suggestion!
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:27 |

I’m afraid I’m going to walk out the door to a sock on his doorknob and a 2000's Buick in the driveway.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:31 |
|
The G8's seem to hold too much value down here.
I have seen a couple of 90's Taurus SHOs that I was oddly interested in.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:32 |
|
Yea this gremlin seems to be running all around the car.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:33 |

Upon further inspection it was probably a scam. Damn.
I’d rather have a mark 3 turbo than a mark 4 N/A.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:34 |
|
This has been my foremost thought so far. Find a good one that’s scruffy enough I won’t feel bad beating on, but keep it well enough that I’d not lose any money.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:35 |

There was a 1973 model for $7500
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:36 |

Buy an old XjR and take night classes to learn about all electrons and ohms and crap and profit.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:37 |
|
They’re cool, certainly wouldn’t disagree with that plan, I don’t know that you’re getting “not complicated” but then again neither of my choices were “not complicated” either.
You could look into a Lincoln LS V8, but those can be a touch difficult on reliability.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:37 |
|
Mine has been bullet proof, but I have a 2005 r53 Cooper S. The r56 isn’t real reliable and is what you’ll find in your price range I suppose.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 16:41 |

That sounds more like it. Jesus.

Lol I’m selling one, why would I buy another?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 17:10 |

I might go against myself but I found a clean Thunderbird turbo coupe, and I’ve always liked that styling.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 17:11 |

One of our professors have a 700+ HP supra. He’s insane.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 17:13 |

Yea I’ve had three friends that all had r56's. Two were in the shop all the time, the third never even saw the maintainence department while he had it. Hit and miss, I guess.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 17:15 |

By night classes you mean in my garage with a manual trying to get it to work?
![]() 05/16/2016 at 17:18 |

Lol couldn’t help myself

Later Impala SS? Or just get a Roadmaster and defy all logic and reason with your land barge.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 19:29 |

that might work but I meant getting a electrical engineering degree. Or my plan systematically replace every bit of wire and fuseholder with new quality things. maybe just rip out everything not needed and use some kind of universal hot rod type wiring harness. I can live without seat heaters or a cartier dash clock.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 22:51 |
|
Well, I certainly can’t live without those things in my hand-built personal luxury coupe.
Besides, I have enough work to do learning the electrical of the airplanes.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 22:54 |
|
More like bend all to the will of the battlewagon.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 23:00 |
|
haha. well then replace everything with milspec fancy stuff. kevlar nomex ties and redundancy and modular crap and the connectors my gosh the connectors!
![]() 05/16/2016 at 23:15 |
|
Replacing those items might cost more than the car.
![]() 05/16/2016 at 23:41 |

hey we aren’t trying to make money here!
![]() 05/17/2016 at 09:28 |

OOOO what about a lincoln super coupe? If you like that styling I mean -
![]() 05/17/2016 at 10:36 |
|
Can you get that with a 5-speed? I’d like a luxury muscle car. I found the older fox body based LSC with a 5.0/T-5 combo.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 10:39 |
|
Nope, and the older Mark Vii also only came in auto. I imagine a swap wouldn’t be THAT hard though giving the shared platforms.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 10:56 |
|
Yea I’ve seen enough swaps to imagine it wouldn’t be too difficult. If I find one cheap enough that’d be cool.

how’s 3400? Garage kept, nice condition and under 100k miles.

Very interesting. I like the color. Price is right. Detroit’s a little far from Daytona Beach. But I’ve been pretty much looking all up and down the east coast because I am going back to PA for the summer in a bit.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 12:04 |
|
There’s always going to be more of these in the Detroit area. I think they only came in Red, Black, White and Silver. I like the Red and the Black a lot
![]() 05/17/2016 at 12:15 |

Damn. I was hoping for a Thunderbird-like dark blue.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 12:23 |

THERE’S HOPE! I’ve never seen one before but this is the “color list” I found
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
![]() 05/17/2016 at 12:29 |

Lol those names are the best. I’ll keep an eye out for one.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 13:20 |

The best is Ford’s new Blue it’s called Too Good To Be Blue
lol
![]() 05/17/2016 at 13:45 |

Are you serious? Haha that’s just getting ridiculous. I do like me some grabber blue. Or that grey color.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 13:54 |
|
Ahh probably thinking of Magnetic Metallic (Gray).
The darker blue offered along side Grabber is typically Kona blue on cars/ CUVs and they have a different dark blue for Trucks/SUVs that is Blue Jeans Metallic.
My Mercury Milan is Ingot Silver. My 68 Mercury Montego is Cardinal Red.
![]() 05/17/2016 at 13:58 |

I thought it was stealth grey?
![]() 05/17/2016 at 14:33 |

Ahh you are correct! I was thinking of this gray:
Which is called Magnetic. Or in a better example:
But don’t fret-
Ingot Silver lives on

It’s been a great car for me for over 4 years now and I’ve put on 60k miles
